First & Second Quarter 2022: Collecting

As June cooks along, I’m pausing to review the early 2022 map I charted for myself and take stock. This is my first year looking at my art practice using quarters. January/February/March were rough creative months- after an enjoyable class series in January productivity was low then we snuck away for a trip in February. I painted almost entirely in my sketchbook with the exception of a little series (eventually finished in April). These are available for purchase with a delay as they are in storage.

April/May/June have been really inspiring and I’ve painted much more frequently. Mostly intuitive painting regularly painting in my sketchbooks. I took several classes in-person and online that have tweaked my perspective and me excited. We worked like mad in our garden planting and landscaping and then shifted to our summer cabin. My mind is full of ideas and directions so I’m sifting through while composing for paintings and shifting my mindset out of the sketchbook.

It always helps my productivity to have a deadline so a fall show (with Kaimia Designs) is planned at the Clausen Museum. We will be announcing the dates as they approach!

So, the first half of this year has about collecting thoughts, ideas, and paintings in my sketchbook. The second half (I hope) this work will blossom into finished paintings.
