This summer was full of wanderings along the beach with my 4 year old son. I left the ID book behind and brought along my sketchbook seeking to record our journeys visually.

Earlier a doe was up on the porch and the two were nose to nose.
The loss of light this season has pushed us outdoors. We must have some daylight and fresh air. The paths through the muskeg have been our routine. We can walk from the house and there is little time walking near the road and it’s smells.
I grew up here, and I travel, but Alaska has given my heart roots. Our home is Southeast Alaska, both Juneau and Petersburg.
