This painting was inspired by my little boy’s joyful harvesting of salmonberries and their colorful variety. A good crop of sweet salmonberries is almost enough to forgive the plant for its vigorous attempts to takeover. This urchin plate is a real dish in our cupboard (made by Petersburg potter Five Finger Pottery) and the imagined tablecloth is inspired by the embroidery pattern from the Petersburg Leikkering dancers bunad.
